Executive DirectorAnonymous
Job Summary
Founding Executive — Operations, Investments & Ventures for a Technology Founder & CEO
Our client is the Founder and CEO of a rapidly growing, venture-backed company valued at approximately $6 billion. He is establishing a new private family office, based in Moscow, Idaho, to run the operations, investments, and ventures he pursues outside of his primary company. This is a rare founding role: the Executive Director will build the office's operating infrastructure from the ground up, working directly with the Founder, and will grow into one of the most trusted and influential positions in his professional life.
The office will start lean — initially the Executive Director and a small support team — with a clear mandate to scale toward an eventual team of roughly 20 professionals across operations, investments, ventures, and philanthropy. The right candidate will be as comfortable rolling up their sleeves in year one as they will be leading a mature organization several years from now.
Responsibilities
Serve as the Founder's Trusted Operator
Act as the Founder's alter ego for all activity outside his primary company — his single point of accountability for the family office.
Build the family office's foundational infrastructure: governance, financial controls, reporting cadence, and operating rhythm.
Represent the Founder in meetings, negotiations, and relationships where his direct involvement is not required.
Build and Lead the Team
Design the org structure for the family office and hire into it as scope grows — targeting a team of approximately 20 across operations, investments, ventures, administration, and philanthropy.
Recruit, develop, and manage direct reports as the office scales, instilling a culture of discretion, rigor, and service to the Founder's priorities.
Establish scalable systems and processes (financial, legal, HR) that can support the office's growth over the next several years.
Oversee Outside Ventures & Personal Investments
Provide operational and strategic oversight for ventures and investments the Founder holds outside of his primary company.
Evaluate new venture and investment opportunities the Founder is considering, and manage due diligence with outside advisors (legal, tax, wealth management).
Coordinate with external counsel, accountants, and investment managers to ensure the Founder's outside interests are well-governed.
Incubate and stand up new ventures from the ground up — providing the operating backbone (entity formation, staffing, systems, and governance) for future companies the Founder launches in pursuit of disruptive innovation.
Oversee Philanthropic Giving
Establish and operate a 501(c)(3) private foundation, including formation, IRS filings, bylaws, and board governance.
Design and manage the Founder's charitable giving strategy, and own the full grant lifecycle — due diligence, disbursement, compliance, and impact reporting.
Ensure ongoing compliance with nonprofit and private foundation regulations (excise tax, minimum distribution requirements, self-dealing rules, annual filings).
Qualifications
This is a ground-floor opportunity to build a family office from scratch alongside a founder scaling one of the fastest-growing venture-backed companies in the country. The Executive Director will own the operating backbone of the office — and will help incubate the Founder's future companies as he pursues disruptive innovation beyond his primary business. The role will shape the office's structure, culture, and priorities from day one, and will grow in scope and influence as the office matures into a ~20-person organization overseeing meaningful operational, investment, and philanthropic activity.
